Open Inguinal Hernia
The only way to fix an inguinal hernia is to have surgery. Both open and closed methods can be used to do surgery. In the open method, a 7–10 cm cut is made in the inguinal area to reach the hernia sac. The sac is then cut open and sent to the abdomen and abdomen. It is called the “Lichtenstain” method, and it involves fixing the hernia defect and putting special patches (called “grafts”) on it.
